openminded - finally took the time to read your post. Aren't kids amazing? Loved what you wrote. It is so true. And what is even more amazing, something the kids don't understand, it that parents feel the joy and feel their pain.

My Honor Student

various and sundry honors were handed out all over the place for the honor students.. my daughter received honors for:.
presidential award for educational excellence and gold honor chord- must have grade point average above 3.5. ospi washington state honors- received academic index rating which places her in the top 10% statewide.. aa degree- 2 year degree from sfcc.

I think Erica is right about the cultural stuff. My sister's neighbor is the PO of the Spanish congregation where she lives. His wife wears dark, almost black nail polish. In the English congregation the sisters think it is 'worldly.' But it is acceptable and very common in the Spanish congregation. Of course, I didn't think there was anything wrong with Erica's makeup at all. Did I miss something? Maybe I should watch my video of Dateline again.....

Valis - thanks for the reminder about fastweb. We have been subscribing for a couple of years to a free scholarship service. Our daughter that is doing what TR's daughter is doing received the second to the highest dollar amount of scholarships in her class. Our older daughter also received scholarships that will pay for two years tuition and fees. The top dollars this year went to a football player with a high grade point average. Can't imagine what these kids would be going through if they were still in Dubdumb. I really want the JWs to know that kids do not become raunchy, immoral people when the leave the Borg. TR's daughter sounds like a really wonderful person who makes wise choices. And of course, I think my kids are pretty cool too. Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts.

Did the High School mention she is getting her AA? That is so cool! This little rural school district we are in didn't mention my daughter's AA degree or even that she was participating in the Running Start program. And they wouldn't let her wear her Phi Theta Kappa honors stole on graduation day - she wore her pin. Bummers huh? Good job raising that beautiful girl of yours! Be very, very proud. Aren't you glad her talents and skills will not be wasted. I'm sure she will do very well continuing her education at a 4-year college.
We'll be at the SFCC graduation too. Hope the weather is nice - think it's outside this year.

plmkrzy - I most humbly apologize. Did not mean to yell. I do get a bit hot under the collar when it comes to the silent lambs. I am sorry.
Bill - you are in welcome company for the trouble maker part. Rocky and I are still not DF'd or DA'd but have always been labeled trouble makers. Seems the congregation doesn't appreciate folks who speak out for justice and 'truth.'

plmkrzy - I wish you would READ my posts, not just scan. I did not say 'shame on Erica' but only commented on the how the Dubs want to 'shame Erica' for wearing a cross. The WT and it's loyal followers are shameful. Erica is a sweetie! and I respect her for keeping some resemblence of faith in God. plmkrzy - let me clarify, not the elders in Othello, who he said handled it all wrong, but the elders in the United States, or at least in his little corner of the USA. My father said the elders in Othello didn't handle Erica's case properly and did not follow written standard procedure....hmmmm......he might have been fed a lie, or is feeding lies, or hmmmm.....
Whether she wore the cross or not Erica got the short end of the deal and is still getting no sympathy from the Dubs. Shame on them, not on her!Mrs R

It's amazing Erica has any faith in God at all since she was abused first by Belize and then continues to be abused by the WT, who claims to represent the true God. They should be looking at the cross and thinking about the millstone around their own necks for stumbling Erica!

My father, the PO of a West Coast metropolitan area congregation, said that the elders in Othello handled this case improperly. LOL Then he said that the elders have received correspondence from Brooklyn that has put them under some pressure: "they are in the hot seat" and that the elders are "damned if they do and damned if they don't." My sister wouldn't talk about it at all. BTW, none of my JW extended family has viewed the Dateline program yet. Think my father taped it but hasn't had time to view. Told him he will hear lies about Bill and silentlambs. Don't know if he will believe what we told him as opposed to the urban legends in the making.

Animation graphics in the text field
by SEAKEN2001 ini know some of you are not going to appreciate this and it probably won't start a movement that will affect a change but it will make me feel better to rant.. i find it very distracting to have moving graphics in the field of text, where we are supposed to be reading.
perhaps many of you are used to listening to the radio while studying for a test, as i have often seen depicted on tv, presumably in humor.
it may be humorous but it is not conducive to actual retention and meaningful meditation.
